About Mezgeb Mezmur

Mezgeb Mezmur is a digital archive and worship platform dedicated to preserving and sharing Eritrean Catholic Mezmur (spiritual songs). The service is provided as a community resource for worship, education, and cultural preservation.

What Data We Collect

• Authentication data: When you create an account, we store your email address, display name, and profile preferences via Firebase Authentication. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled securely by Firebase.
• User content: Comments, favorites, and playlists you create are stored in Firestore and linked to your account.
• Anonymous analytics: With your consent, we collect anonymous page views, content popularity, device type, browser, and approximate country/region. No personal data (name, email, IP address, GPS) is stored in analytics.
• Contact submissions: Messages sent via the contact or volunteer form are stored to respond to your inquiry.

Cookies & Storage

• Essential: Login session tokens and PWA cache are necessary for the website to function. These are always active.
• Analytics: Optional. Only active if you accept the analytics consent banner. You can reject or change your preference at any time via the Manage button in the consent banner.
• Preferences: Font size, language, and UI preferences are stored locally in your browser.

Analytics

We use privacy-safe internal analytics stored in Firebase Firestore. Analytics events are anonymous and include: page path, content type, device category (mobile/desktop/tablet), browser name, operating system, approximate country/region (derived from browser language), and session identifier (random, not linked to your identity). We do not use Google Analytics or third-party tracking pixels.

Comments & Community

Comments you post on Mezmur pages are publicly visible and linked to your display name. You can delete your own comments. Moderators may remove comments that violate community guidelines.

Social Sharing

When you share a Mezmur via WhatsApp, Facebook, or email, the shared message contains the Mezmur title and URL. No personal data is transmitted to social platforms beyond what you choose to share.

PWA & Offline

If you install Mezgeb Mezmur as a Progressive Web App, selected content (lyrics, pages) may be cached locally on your device for offline use. This data stays on your device and can be cleared via your browser settings.
