Saint Paul teaches that those who have been raised with Christ must seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. The Resurrection is not only an event that happened to Jesus in the past. Through baptism and faith, Christians participate in His death and new life. Because we have been raised with Christ, we must put to death everything belonging to the old life: impurity, evil desire, greed, anger, malice, harmful speech, and falsehood. The risen life requires us to put away the old self and become renewed in the image of our Creator. In Christ, the divisions by which the world separates and ranks people lose their power. Christ is all and in all. Resurrection life therefore produces a community in which people of different backgrounds are united in one Lord. Saint Peter tells believers to sanctify Christ as Lord within their hearts and always be prepared to explain the reason for their hope. Christian witness must be offered with gentleness, respect, and a clear conscience—not through aggression, pride, or insult. Peter connects Christ’s suffering and Resurrection with baptism. Christ suffered for sins, the righteous One for the unrighteous, to lead humanity back to God. Baptism is not merely an external washing; it is an appeal to God for a clear conscience through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Acts, Saint Paul proclaims that God fulfilled His promises by raising Jesus from the dead. Through Christ, forgiveness of sins is announced to everyone who believes. The apostles do not present the Resurrection as a private spiritual experience; they proclaim it as God’s saving action for the whole world. In the Gospel, the disciples from Emmaus return to Jerusalem and announce what happened on the road. While the disciples are speaking, the risen Jesus stands among them and says: “Peace be with you.” They are frightened and think they are seeing a spirit. Jesus shows them His hands and feet and invites them to recognise that He has truly risen. His Resurrection is real, bodily, and victorious. Christ brings peace into the frightened community and transforms confused disciples into witnesses. We honour His Resurrection when we reject the old life, walk in holiness, defend our hope with gentleness, and proclaim that forgiveness and new life are available through Him.
