Saint Paul teaches that God is faithful. The Gospel is not an uncertain message that changes between “Yes” and “No.” All the promises of God find their fulfilment and their “Yes” in Jesus Christ. God establishes believers in Christ, anoints them, seals them, and gives the Holy Spirit as the first guarantee of what is to come. Saint John warns the Church against teachings that deny the Father and the Son. Christians must remain in the truth they received from the beginning. The anointing of the Holy Spirit teaches and strengthens them so that they may remain in Christ and stand confidently before Him when He appears. In Acts, Saint Paul recounts how God guided Israel through judges, prophets, and kings, finally raising up David. From David’s descendants, according to His promise, God brought forth Jesus as Savior. John the Baptist prepared the way by preaching repentance and directing the people toward the One who was coming after him. The Gospel announces that the people who lived in darkness have seen a great light. Jesus begins His public ministry with the call: “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Christ calls Peter, Andrew, James, and John to leave their nets and follow Him. He does not call them only for their personal salvation; He makes them fishers of people. They are invited to participate in His mission of proclaiming the Kingdom, teaching the truth, healing the afflicted, and gathering humanity into the family of God. The true manifestation of Christ demands a response. It is not enough to admire His light from a distance. Christians must repent, leave behind everything that prevents faithful discipleship, remain in the Son, and follow Him into mission. Christ is the fulfilment of God’s promises, the light that overcomes darkness, and the Savior announced by the prophets. Those who receive His light must become bearers of that light—through faithful teaching, compassionate service, evangelisation, and a life firmly rooted in Him.
