The Nativity of Christ is not simply the remembrance of the birth of an important religious teacher. It is the celebration of the eternal Son of God entering human history. The One through whom all things were created accepts human nature. The Lord of heaven is born in humility. The One whom the heavens cannot contain is found as a child in Bethlehem. God enters the weakness, poverty, suffering, and uncertainty of human life in order to redeem humanity from within. The Nativity therefore reveals both the greatness of divine love and the humility of Christ.
