The passing of one season and the beginning of another remind us that God appoints times for preparation, growth, harvest, and rest. The Letter to the Hebrews teaches that God’s promise of rest remains open, but it must be received through faith and obedience. The Israelites heard God’s promise, but some failed to enter His rest because they did not unite what they heard with faith. Christians must therefore listen to God’s voice today and avoid hardening their hearts. God’s Word is living and powerful; it reveals the true condition of the human heart. Saint James warns against showing favouritism to the rich while dishonouring the poor. God has chosen those who appear poor in the eyes of the world to become rich in faith. The royal law—“You shall love your neighbour as yourself”—must guide the Christian community. Mercy triumphs over judgment, and faith that produces no loving action is empty. In Acts, the believers pray and receive courage from the Holy Spirit. They become one in heart and soul, proclaim Christ boldly, and share what they possess so that no member of the community remains in need. Their unity demonstrates what it means to enter God’s rest together. Jesus tells His disciples that His food is to accomplish the Father’s will. He invites them to look upon the fields, which are already ready for harvest. Some sow and others reap, but everyone participates in the same saving mission. The true spiritual harvest is produced when faith becomes obedience, mercy, generosity, unity, and service. We enter God’s rest not by remaining inactive, but by trusting Him and faithfully completing the work He has entrusted to us.
