The Christian life bears fruit through patience, discipline, and faithfulness. Saint Paul tells Timothy to be strong in the grace of Christ and to endure hardship like a good soldier, a disciplined athlete, and a patient farmer. Spiritual fruit does not appear immediately; it grows through perseverance. Saint James warns those who gain wealth through injustice and tells the faithful to remain patient until the coming of the Lord. God hears the cries of those who are oppressed, and every person will be accountable for how possessions and authority are used. In Acts, Paul and Barnabas refuse to be treated as gods. They direct the people away from idols and toward the one living God, who gives rain, fruitful seasons, food, and gladness. Every good fruit ultimately comes from God. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that mercy is greater than a legalistic interpretation of religious rules. The Sabbath was not given to prevent compassion. True worship produces mercy, justice, patience, and service. A Christian bears good fruit by remaining faithful during hardship, worshipping God alone, treating workers and the poor justly, and choosing mercy over empty religious observance.
